Musical Talent at the Little Sisters
« on: November 07, 2012, 08:11:08 pm »
Hey, y'all!
Trying to get the 'concerto' at the Little Sisters staked out; I am up for playing a few songs on the piano (Beethoven, some Western Rythms, etc.).
I was wondering who else had plans and if so, what they are; also, wondering if we were going to do the Veterans theme throughout, or just a piece by Mary (and anyone else who wants to) maybe at the end.
Just going to repeat what Doug said: the residents don't really care about the music so much as the young faces showing their stuff, so don't be afraid to swag your musical talent! ;D
We could even do a small chorus together with songs we/they know, like hymns or something. Just a thought!
Can't wait to see y'all there and have a great one!
~Katherine

I propose "Amazing Grace" -- easy, beautiful, we could perhaps have both piano and violin accompaniment to the singing. Thoughts?

Also, Sister Joseph thinks there's a piano in only one of the two dining halls, so that's something to consider.

Any other suggestions for songs we could all sing? Perhaps something for Christmas, and as Mary suggested, something patriotic for Veterans' Day.

I was actually thinking of singing Amazing Grace, so I could try and prepare a couple of the verses.

Elise, that would be great! Please do so. Perhaps you could sing the first verse, then, if we are able to use the hymnals and find it, we could all join in for the remaining verses.

I have the sheet music to God Bless America, but not Amazing Grace, But if I have the lyrics I can sing that.

"Anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices" -Voltaire
